Build the confidence to share your creative expertise in 3 simple steps.
Four years ago, I had no idea how to host a creative workshop. I had gotten a few messages from followers asking for workshops, and I knew it was something I wanted to explore someday...
But I didn’t feel that I was “expert” enough to offer one. I told myself that my following wasn't big enough to sell tickets yet, plus I had no clue what the hell I'd even teach.
Spoiler alert: I felt those fears and did it anyway.
Fast forward to now, and the decision to start teaching my own workshops completely transformed me and my business. I got comfortable speaking in front of a group. My confidence shot through the roof when workshops started filling up.
But most importantly? Those workshops started generating a reliable income stream that made all of my worries about slower client work months a thing of the past (every freelancer's dream, right?!).
Over the course of the next 3 days, you'll learn how to:
Lesson 1: Stop worrying that you don’t know enough to teach.
(You just need to know a little more than someone else.)
Lesson 2: Engage with your audience and ask them what they want!
(Stop guessing and see what they really think!)
Lesson 3: Find that workshop sweet spot!
(AKA what you feel excited to teach AND what people will actually pay for.)
Still not sure you’re ready to teach? Read this.
It's okay, I felt this way too at first. Who was I to teach? Why would anyone learn from me when there are so many talented artists teaching out there?
But with the encouragement of friends, I decided to give it a try. Fast-forward four years, and I've now taught over 35 workshops around the world.
Think of it this way: whether you have 100 or 100K followers, people follow you because they enjoy your work and want to see more of it...which means they already think of you as an expert and are interested in the insight and wisdom YOU (yes, lil ol' you) have to share.
Teaching workshops is an amazing way to put your skills to use as an artist and expand your business (hello diversified income streams!) while staying true to your creative self.
Hiii! I'm Lauren, and I'm lettering artist and illustrator who loves helping creative people profit from their passions. In 2014, I left my 9-to-5 job in advertising to start my own creative studio, Hom Sweet Hom (I know, I got really lucky with my last name haha!). Since then, I've worked with clients like Google, Starbucks, Adobe and TIME Magazine, plus grown an audience of 200K+ around my work on social media. I don't think my grandma quite understands what that means, but she says she's really proud of me.
