Hello and welcome to Week 48 of #HOMwork!
The holiday season is in full-swing, and even though it’s the most wonderful time of the year, there might be people in your life who are going through a hard time.
This week, I’ve partnered with OptionB.Org, an organization that helps you build resilience in the face of adversity—and gives you the tools to help your family, friends, and community do the same. Their #OptionBThere for the Holidays program helps us find ways to support friends and family who could use extra love this season.
At some point we’ve all told a friend or loved one who’s struggling, “Let me know if you need anything.”
We really want to help but aren’t sure what to do. But when we make a general offer of help, it puts the burden on the person who’s already having a hard time. You can be a bigger help to your friend by just doing something—even something small. It doesn’t have to be big to mean a lot.
Alternately, if you've ever been through a rough patch during the holidays, what were some of the actions that your friends and family took that helped you the most?
The thing that makes me feel the most supported and cared for when I’m feeling down is someone offering to cook me dinner or share a meal together. It’s a simple, yet meaningful way to show someone that you care about them, so I made my artwork about that.

As always, post your work using the hashtag #HOMwork, and this week, include #OptionBThere. In the caption, tell us why you chose your small action of support and why it’s important to you. If there’s a story behind it and you’re open to sharing it like I did, I’d love to hear more about it too. Sharing our personal stories can be a really powerful way to let others know that they’re not alone.
Don’t forget to tag me @homsweethom and @optionb in your post so we can see all the ways the #HOMwork community will be supporting their loved ones this month. I’ll be sharing my favorites in my Story, and Option B will be reaching out to the creators of their favorite posts to feature them to their combined social media audiences of over 875,000!
