Hey HOMwork friends, happy Friday!
(If this is your first time joining us, take a peek at our Challenge Archive for all previous assignments.)
This week's assignment is another exercise in wordplay, but that's no accident! As many of you know, wordplay has been a constant source of inspiration for my passion projects. As a letterer, I used to just incorporate wordplay into phrases that I was drawing, but over the course of my career, I started to think bigger.
I began to extrapolate puns into larger projects like Flour Crowns. Sure, I could've just lettered "Flour Crowns" and illustrated a bread crown and been done with it, but instead, I decided to expand on the idea and ended up making 30 different physical objects. This turned into a project that differentiated me and showed off my personality in a way a single illustration couldn't have.
Creative Tip: Take a minute this week to think about sayings, cliches, idioms, or puns and brainstorm new and bigger ways to interpret them, it just might lead to your next passion project!
Most of us have heard the common saying about destiny, "It's written in the stars". It's easy to dismiss it as wishful thinking, but believing in your goals and aspirations as if they are destined to come true is a great first step in making sure they do come true.
I know it can sound like a load of BS, but trust me on this. There is a verified correlation between speaking aloud our hopes, dreams, and goals and them coming to fruition. When we are honest and open about the things we want to achieve it can be incredibly inspiring for others, plus it gives us a sense of accountability.
OMG MORE FREE BRUSHES! I drew my artwork with a lovely set of Procreate brushes from DesignCuts, and they're giving all HOMwork subscribers two FREE brushes from the same set.

It may sound corny to believe in “destiny” but if we don't put our goals and aspirations out there, chances are they won't come true. So
go on put it out into the universe, and see what happens.
